Austin, TX. In 2010, the Statehouse was undergoing a major exterior renovation. Since it was during the recession, the State did not feel it could justify re-gilding the Star atop the dome and elected to apply gold paint instead. When we found out about this, we offered to donate the labor, as well as the 23.75 KT gold leaf and other materials, to gild the star as it was originally. The State graciously accepted our offer.
